Working Fire At DSU Apartments

Thursday, July 14, 2016

On August 14, 2015 at 1741 hrs, the Dover Fire Department was alerted for a working fire at the DSU University Courtyard Apartments. E6 was first on scene under the direction of Asst. Chief David Carey to find a three story apartment complex with an active fire in the stairwell between the second and third floors. E6’s crew established a water supply and stretched a 300’, 1-3/4” attack line to the third floor. The crew made a quick knock down of the fire. E4 arrived on scene, laddered the building and checked for extension into the adjacent apartments. L1 arrived on scene and placed the aerial in service to check for extension on the exterior of the stairwell. One firefighter was slightly injured and sent to the Local trauma center. A special thanks go out to the excellent care provided by Kent County Paramedics Sgt. Rick Schlauch and Lt. Michael Bishop. The scene was placed under control and turned over to the City of Dover FMO for investigation.
