Working House Fire

On January 14, 2015 at 2201 hrs, the Dover Fire Department was alerted for a working house fire at 53 S. New Street. Duty Officer, Asst. Chief Duane Reeder was first on scene to find heavy fire throughout the entire first floor of a two-story, single family residence. E4 was the first engine on scene. The crew secured a water source and advanced a 1-3/4” attack line through the front door. L1 arrived on scene and followed E4’s crew to perform a search and rescue. E6 arrived on scene and advanced another 1-3/4” attack line through the door on the “D” side. Additional units arrived on scene and assisted with securing the utilities, fire suppression and overhaul. Through an aggressive fire attack, the fire was contained to the first floor, although the second floor sustained heavy smoke damage. Additional crews from neighboring departments were brought in to assist with overhaul. The scene was placed under control and turned over to the City of Dover Fire Marshal for investigation.
