Working House Fire in Frigid Conditions

On February 14, 2016 at 1043 hrs. the Dover Fire Department was alerted for a working house fire at 1522 Wayne Ave. E4, under the direction of Past Chief Terry Whitham was first on scene to find a one-story, single family dwelling with smoke showing. All subjects were reported out of the residence with the exception of a small K9. The crew advanced a 1-3/4” attack line through the front door. The Duty Officer arrived on scene and assumed Command. L1 arrived and was directed to open the roof. A second 1-3/4” attack line was taken to the roof to extinguish fires in the attic area. As additional units arrived on scene, utilities were secured and a search was performed. The family K9 was found and recovered, safe and sound. Crews remained on scene for an extended period of time performing overhaul due to the fire getting into the walls. The scene was placed under control and turned over to the State Fire Marshal’s office for investigation.
