On October 10, 2018 at 1558 hrs, the department was alerted for a motor vehicle collision, car vs. school bus with possible entrapment. Duty Officer, Asst. Chief David Carey, was first on scene to find a two-vehicle collision with the driver of the passenger car entrapped. E5 arrived on scene and was advised their patient was in the passenger vehicle. Crews stabilized the vehicle as EMS tended to the patient. Access was gained to the driver via door pop. The lower portion of the “A” post had been pushed into the driver’s compartment and was also removed. The driver of the passenger vehicle, as well as one subject from the bus, were transported to the local trauma center for evaluation. The scene was placed under control and turned over to Dover PD for investigation.
