Thursday, July 2, 2015

On May 27, 2011 at 0540 hrs, the Dover Fire Department was dispatched to 54 Konschak Avenue for an automatic fire alarm. A second call was received by Dover Fire Communications stating there was smoke coming from the residence and the occupant had exited the structure through a second story window. Neighbors and Dover PD assisted the subject from the roof prior to the arrival of the first engine. E4, under the direction of Assistant Chief David Carey, arrived first on scene to find smoke showing from a 2-story, single family dwelling. Crews from E4 secured a hydrant and advanced a 1-3/4” attack line into the structure. Once inside, the crew found heavy fire in the kitchen in the rear of the structure. The crew quickly extinguished the fire and began overhaul. E3 arrived on scene and laddered the structure and started horizontal ventilation. E3 then entered the structure advancing a 1-3/4” backup line and started a primary search along with the crew from L2. Primary and secondary searches where complete with negative results. E2 assisted with exterior operations and overhaul. The scene was placed under control and turned over to City of Dover Fire Marshal's Office for Investigation.
