Big Event Weekend for the DFD - Dover

Thursday, July 2, 2015

The Dover Fire Department had a busy event weekend. It started Friday night with the Backyard Burner event at Bubba’s Rock Shak. The evening was a big success again. Patrons enjoyed Kristen and the Noise and socializing with State firefighters. The following morning was the first annual DFD 5K. Over 80 runners participated. Ages ranged from youth through senior citizens. Along with the 5K was a push-up competition sponsored by the Punch Kettle Bell Gym and a hot wing eating competition sponsored by the Dover Buffalo Wild Wings. The DFD would like to thank the many sponsors who made these events such a great success. Special thanks go out to the Little Creek VFC for the use of their EMS gator. Members also had our Engine 2 and antique Engine 8 judged in the DVFA Conference. The apparatus were awarded 2nd and 8th place respectively in their categories. In the afternoon, the membership participated in the DVFA Conference parade followed shortly after by a crab feast put on by with the Little Creek Fire Company. None of these events would have been possible without the stand-by crews we had in our station from Friday afternoon until Sunday morning.
