Ladder Company Assist in Little Creek

Thursday, July 2, 2015

On January 30, 2014 at 1509, the Dover Fire Department was alerted for a ladder company assist at 455 Main St, Little Creek, DE. Dover L1 arrived on scene and was directed to place its aerial master stream in service on a 2-1/2 story, single family dwelling with heavy fire showing. Little Creek VFC Chief S. Bundek had declared this fire would be defensive in nature with no interior attack due to the fire conditions. E3 arrived on scene and was directed to advance a 1-3/4" attack line in service on two propane tanks with direct fire impingement on them. Crews worked on both tanks, sufficiently cooling them enough to be able to be shut off. The ladder master stream was able to knock down the bulk of the fire. Crews from Dover and numerous other Kent County fire departments remained on scene for three hours hitting hot spots. The scene was turned over to the State FMO for investigation.
