Working House Fire

Sunday, December 2, 2018

On December 2, 2018 at 0416, the DFD was alerted for a working house fire on Martin St. Dover PD, on routine patrol, came upon the vacant house on fire. E5, under the direction of Deputy Chief Rhodes, was first on scene to find a two story, single family residence with fire showing from the “B/C” side on the second story. E5’s crew established their own water supply. The house was boarded up with the exception of one window adjacent to the boarded side door. Due to the possibility of occupants within, the crew advanced a 1-3/4” attack line in through the open window and advanced upstairs. An aggressive attack stopped the fire and kept it contained to the second floor. There was a partial roof collapse above the fire room. The remainder of the house was opened up for firefighter safety and egress. Primary and secondary searches were conducted with negative findings. Little Creek VFC provided the RIT and assisted in opening up the house. KCDPS and Camden-Wyoming VFC provided an EMS stand-by on scene.
