Working Townhouse Fire in the Hamlet - 57 Forest Creek Drive

Thursday, July 2, 2015

On October 11, 2010 at 2359, the Dover Fire Department was dispatched for a working townhouse fire at 57 Forest Creek Drive. Dover E4, under the direction of FF Small, was first on scene and found heavy fire showing from division 1 of a 2-story, middle of the row, townhouse. E4’s crew established a water supply and advanced a 1-3/4” attack line to the front door. E2 arrived on scene. Asst Chief West assumed Command. Crews at the front door quickly discovered that the living room floor had burnt through and they could not advance into the structure. A combined crew from E4 and E2 advanced a 300’ pre-connect 1-3/4” attack line through the “B” exposure and then through the “C” side of the fire building. Dover L2 arrived on scene and began vertical ventilation on the fire building. Mutual aid from Cheswold VFC and Little Creek VFC arrived on scene. Interior crews were unable to make division 2 from the inside due to structural instability of the stairway. Crews then gained access through division 2 on the “C” side. RIT was established and a third 1-3/4” attack line was advanced through division 2 on the “A” side. Primary and secondary searches were complete with negative findings. The fire was contained to the townhouse of origin. The fire is under investigation by the City Fire Marshal’s office.
