Forrest Ave MVC with Impingment - Dover

On February 13, 2011 at 1336, the Dover Fire Department was dispatched for a manpower assist with EMS units on the scene of a motor vehicle collision. E2, under the direction of Asst Chief Simmons, was first on scene to find a two vehicle collision, van vs. pick-up. The van came to rest against, and impinged the driver’s door of the pick-up. Due to extenuating circumstances, the patient in the pick-up was not able to be removed from the passenger side door. E2’s crew utilized the winch to move the van away from the pick-up. E3’s crew arrived on scene and assisted with extraction of the patient from the pick-up. Holmotro rescue tools were employed to remove the driver’s side door, thus freeing the patient. The patient was removed and packaged for transport to the local emergency department. The scene was turned over to the Delaware State Police for investigation.
