MVC Halts Traffic - Dover

On March 6, 2012 at 2240, the Dover Fire Department was dispatched for a motor vehicle collision involving heavy construction equipment and power lines at N. DuPont Hwy and Jefferic Blvd. Reports related there were live wires across a piece of equipment with the driver still inside. E2, under the direction of Captain M. Carey was first on scene to find a heavy construction vehicle entangled in the overhead power wires. The pole was leaning and several wires were on the vehicle and across the roadway. All traffic had been stopped north and southbound on the highway by Dover PD. Crews secured the scene until the City of Dover Electric Department could arrive and de-power the electrical grid. Crews then assisted the driver from the cab. No personnel were injured. The roadway remained closed for several hours while crews repaired the damaged equipment.
