Rolling Pumpkin Patch Fire

Thursday, July 14, 2016

Friday night, October 9th 2015, just prior to the start of the Dover Senators homecoming parade, Dover Firefighters were dispatched to a report of a vehicle fire on State Rt 1 in the area of the toll plaza. As units were responding, crews were advised that it was going to be a trailer on fire with unknown materials on board. Chief Mark Hall arrived on location confirming the report and advised that the trailer was full of pumpkins. Engine 3 arrived, stretched their bumper line and knocked down the fire. Overhaul was required to get to the bottom of the trailer where pallets and cardboard were still burning. Crews from Ladder 2, Engine 4 and Engine 7 assisted the crew of Engine 3 with that task. Once completed, the scene was turned over DelDot and all Dover units cleared.
