2 Separate Challenging MVCs

Monday 9/12/22 the Volunteers of the Dover Fire Department responded to two (2) separate MVCs which were both challenging and not the “normal” call.
At 0936hrs the DFD, DAFB FD, Saint Francis EMS and Kent County ALS were dispatched to an MVC with rollover on RT.1 South in the area of exit 97. Units arrived to find a flatbed truck that had left the road and rolled over down an embankment landing on the edge of a retention pond. The driver self extricated himself and was awaiting on the shoulder when Fire and EMS arrived.
Crews from DFD and DAFB FD secured the truck while EMS provided patient care. The truck was leaking fluids and the Delaware Department of Natural Resources & Environmental Control(DNREC) was requested to to make a response to mitigate the leak. The driver was transported by Saint Francis and KC ALS to the Bayhealth Kent. The scene was turned over to DNREC, DSP & DelDot.
At 1144hrs the DFD, St. Francis EMS, Kent County ALS and DSP Trooper 4 were dispatched for a Pedestrian struck by a vehicle with a subject trapped in the Westminster section of the City. Squad 1 and Car 1 with Dover 15 responded on dispatch were advised the subject was trapped under the vehicle. Dover 15 arrived assuming command and directed Squad 1 to utilize the floor jack to lift the car and Crib as they go to ensure vehicle stabilization. Squad 2 arrived and assisted with cribbing the vehicle. The subject was extricated by the DFD, packaged and loaded into a St. Francis BLS with KC ALS and was transported to the parking lot of North Dover Elementary School where a landing zone was set up for Troopers 4. Trooper 4 arrived and the subject was transferred and transported to Christina Hospital. The scene was turned over to Dover PD.
