Water Rescue St. Jones River

Friday, July 12, 2024

Shortly after units returned from the field fire yesterday, the Dover Fire Department was dispatched to the St. Jones River for a Water Rescue. Dover 15, Squad 1, Utility 1 and Marine 1 made a response. While additional information was gathered by the dispatcher, including weather, tides and depth, and victim descriptions, Command requested Airboat 57 from South Bowers Volunteer Fire Department and Trooper 4 from the Delaware State Police Aviation Section. Marine 1 was able to launch, and located the victims. They were uninjured, and with the assistance of Airboat 57 were removed from the water. Their canoe was also successfully recovered. Dover 21 had command of the incident. Immediately after returning, Squad 1 and Duty Chief responded to the Dover Country Club Apartment complex for a dumpster fire. These were a few the 10 alarms answered by the membership yesterday. If you want to protect your community and learn valuable skills, join us!
